Collection Addition

Ever since I have started this blog, I have been wondering on how to share my collection. At this point, until I am able to fully catalog and photograph all my cars, I think I will post the cars I am able to obtain and when I am not too busy with classes, I will post up my whole collection.

But on to today. After classes today, I needed to but a pencil as mine was hijacked in school. There is a Target nearby and I stopped there for two reasons. One to get a pencil and two to see if they had any new diecasts come out. This Target has been in a little standstill as they were rearranging their vehicle aisle and have not had any new shipments come in for the past week or two. I decided to wait a little, maybe a couple of weeks and then hunt for any vehicles. And today, I was able to find some really cool cars. Here is the list of what I got:

Hot Wheels
    '81 Delorean DMC-12
    2009 Renault Megane Trophy
    'XX Ferrari Enzo
2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggra
    1999 Honda S2000
Matchbox
    '65 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C
    Yamaha Rhino

I already have a couple of the same make-model cars in my collection, but these were different colors and designs and so I wanted to add them. I have in my collection already: 2 Deloreans, 2 Ferrari Enzos, 1 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggra, and 1 Shelby Cobra. I like to collect different colors of the same car and most of these will come off the shelves early on so I jumped at the chance to buy them. These are all really cool cars and have good details. The most detailed are the Gallardo and the Rhino. From the accurate headlamp decals to the side stripe decal. I would have liked it if Hotwheels added decals for the rear lights. It seems both Matchbox and Hotwheels rarely add both headlights and tailights at the same time, although I have some that do. Wheel scale on all but the Enzo appear proprotional to the vehicle. The one thing I really don't like is Hotwheels' addition of larger rear wheels on most cars. From the ones I bought, the Enzo was the only one that had the larger wheels. And when I say larger wheels, they intentionally increase the size to 1.5x the front wheels. I understand why they do it, but for me, I prefer the more realistic proportioned cars. To some this is a trivial matter, they are only toy cars. True, but as a collector I am just picky about my cars. And I want to showcase all the same scale and equally proportioned cars. Otherwise it just seems odd. Which brings me to the Yamaha Rhino. I have been avoiding talking about it for one main reason, its not 1:64 scale. You can see it in the picture. It is 1:55 scale making it the size of a hummer, which for a buggy is horrible. But I overlooked my rule of same scale cars because it is a rarer vehicle and its different than Matchbox's normal line of cars or trucks. So I got it, and I don't regret it. Although larger it is still a cool vehicle with some cool detail like the different plastic appearing as the roll cage and front bull bar. You can see the rear bed filled with equiptment and the doors.

I will need to work on the quality of pictures  I put up, but for now I am just getting used to the blog atmosphere. So these was my capture for today. Until next time.

My First Blog Post - My introduction to Blogging

Blogging.

My first blog post. Well, I have finally started blogging. Its going to be a little while until I get used to this. It will definently be change, sharing each week about me and my thoughts.

How did I come to start blogging. Well, there are many things I would like to share about me and my life. But before I elaborate on that, I would like to talk about who I am.

My name is JRM (appreviated for now) and I am currently a student studying Mechanical Engineering. I have a great passion for cars, God, and drawing. I attended College for Creative Studies majoring in Transportation Design and spent 1.5 years learning there. I had to switch majors for a couple of reasons, one, CCS being a private college has a very high tuition rate, and two, I love to design but also focus on how it works. I hope to apply both these two degree majors into one and work in the automotive industry.

I am a Christian. I started repenting in the summer of 2005 and was baptized in 2006. I have had a lot of experiences. God has been faithful and gave me the grace to repent. I have always known God was real. I was born in a Christian household to a wonderful family. As I became a teenager, I began to learn more and more about God through sunday school. To me then, all those bible stories seemed just like stories, but I knew one thing, God was real. As I continued to High School, once summer came, I would spend some time with my Grandpa and Grandma, but the summer of '05 became a faith builder. I have always felt a need to repent and I told God that if He would show me the right time to do so, I would do it. In retrospec, I see now that the prompting alone was evidence enough to begin my repentence. But I was young then. One day, before I went to sleep in that summer, I felt a slight prompting to read the bible. I had just finished reading a novel. I didn't know why I did it, only it felt "good" to do so. I had told God earlier that if he would show me the word 'Repent' in the bible, I would repent. And so I opened the bible to Ezekiel chapter 14. and as I read I came to verse 6:
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
As usual, Satan tried desperatly to prevent me of doing so by telling me that I was being deceived in turning to God. For 45 minutes I constantly heard Satan's lies. I didn't know what to do. What if he was right. Then I heard a small voice say, "Why not just do it", and at that point it became quiet and I know now that was Jesus Christ my Savior showing me the way in a world of darkness. God has been faithful to me and at times that if I was God, I would have cast me aside, but God held on, giving me many chances and for that I thank You Lord, for loving me always.

That was a bit long, but I wanted to share my testimony. God is my life.

And I hope to share my experiences with God on this blog, but as a good friend encouraged me, I wanted to use this blog to share about the love I have for cars. This is something I enjoy doing and I believe God can reveal life lessons through this simple hobby. God has given my many talents and cars are one of them. I collect cars. I used to collect 1:18 scale but those were pricy and took up space. So I moved on to 1:64 scale. I would like to share my collection and the various projects I take up.

I collect many brands, but I stick to a couple basic rules.
One - I go after real model cars. Hotwheels and Matchbox make real-model cars and their own designs and, I will admit, I do have a couple, and I mean a couple, of hot wheels desigend cars, for the most part, I go after real-make and model cars.
Two - I hate when a company diecasts a different scale. Yes, not all 1:64 scale cars are 1:64. And I try to stay close to that scale. But if the car is tempting enough I may overlook this rule, but its unlikely.

And so ends my first post. This is a little about me and my hobby. Thanks be to God for my love of cars and I hope that He may be praised and glorified through this blog.
